progress report: day sixteen.
Ta-da…
Socks! Done! Whoo!
Just wanted to show off this latest FO before I take off for Music City tomorrow morning. I am super super happy with these socks. Would definitely knit them again. And would definitely use the Sockittome yarn again too. Lovely, just lovely. If I could ‘fave’ my own project on Ravelry, I would – is that bad? LOL.
See you in about a week or so…
progress report: day thirteen.
Well, only five more days to go until the 2008 Ravelympics are over. The needles have not been worked very much since Monday. Am still dealing with a pair of socks which are only about 75% finished. However in saying that, I am quite sure that at the very least the socks WILL be on my feet by Sunday. The scarf and stole on the other hand… Not so much.
It’s definitely crunch time around here as I desperately try to finish these projects, work, prepare & pack for a trip to Nashville (which requires me to check in at the airport at 5:30 on Sunday morning. 5:30am!!!!), and do other various fun things a city girl does in between. Guess I better get back to knittin’ then, huh? And of course, watch the olympics. How about Michael Phelps & Usain Bolt. Wow. Ooh and I really enjoyed watching Simon Whitfield win the silver medal for Canada in the men’s triathalon.
Okay I’m really gonna go now…
progress report: day ten.
Pictures as promised…
Completed 4 whole pattern repeats on the Lace Ribbon Scarf.

Spring Forward socks about 60% to completion – one sock finished, and about 1/3 of the way done the leg of sock number two.

I’m quite hopeful that at the very least I will have finished the pair of socks, and perhaps even make it to the halfway point of the scarf. As for my poor Seascape Stole, it has suffered during these Ravelympics games. I will love it again soon enough…
progress report: day nine.
Last night I finished a sock. I finished a sock! There’s hope for me yet, lol. Have not cast on for sock #2 yet – working on a couple of repeats in my Scarf Stroke project. Will probably cast on for the second sock later tonight. Really, really love how the first one turned out. Progress pictures will be posted tomorrow…
progress report: day eight.
Maybe this should have been titled “non-progress report: day eight.”
My hopes of having one sock completely finished before bedtime on Wednesday night were squashed. And it’s still not done! Been a slacker-knitter these past couple of days. At this point I can probably only hope to have an *almost* completed pair of socks by the time the Olympic flame is extinguished on August 24th.
It’s possible that this weekend will be a productive one for my Ravelympics knitting challenge. It’ll be spent out-of-town and there will be no yarn shops or interweb access to distract me.
Ooooh, yarn shops… Stopped by one of my LYS’ yesterday as a matter of fact. At this week’s knit night, one of the Wooly Bullies mentioned that there was a sale on Noro Transitions. Enabler! Of course I just had to stop by to check it out. And of course a couple skeins came home with me…
Then to top it all off, I get home and whilst procrasinating on the internet I find out that my other LYS received some new yarns in this week. Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn. Pfft! As if I’ll be able to resist that. I am very excited to try this new sock yarn. So I guess you know where I’ll be going after work today…
This LYS also got in some Cascade 220 which I’ve always wanted to try. Think I’ll pick up a couple skeins in different colours and test it out on some new toques & mittens for the colder weather that will eventually be coming our way. Or, I could pick up a few skeins for the Christmas stockings I had planned to make for my nieces & nephew… Aah, my poor pea-brain can’t handle all the possibilities!
…fizzles out…
progress report: day five.

It’s all about the socks. Haven’t knit anything other than them for the past two days. There are about 7 or so more gusset decrease rounds to go on sock #1. Plan to have the first sock done before I hit the hay tomorrow night. Once that sock is finished, I’ll whip up a couple more pattern repeats on the scarf.
Stoopid innernets keeps distracting me from knitting though. Love browsing through everyone’s Ravelympics projects. Amazing stuff I tells ya. Really. Very happy that I decided to challenge myself with this task and join Team Canada in representing our creative ways.
Eyes are tired. Must go zzzzzzzz…
progress report: day three.
Day three already!?? Wow, better make this a fast post. Let’s get right down to it then.
First up, the Scarf Stroke. After 2 re-starts, I finally made it through 1 full pattern repeat. Forgot how much I love watching Noro yarn knit up.

And lastly, the Sock Put. By far my fave project right now. And likely the one that will be finished first. First time using Cherry Tree Hill Sockittome and am LOVING it. That yarn + with the fantastic KnitPicks Harmony dpns + the awesomely fab Spring Foward pattern = a big ol’ smile on this daisy’s face.
Haven’t had much knitting time over the past couple of days. The work I had done in starting the Lace Ribbon scarf en route to the lake was promptly frogged. That’ll show me for taking an easy pattern for granted, lol. And stupidly, forgot to wind my sock yarn into a ball before the games began so Friday night was spent re-knitting the scarf,
then enlisting the help of my Momma with the winding. (Speaking of Mom, I think she may have her eyes on the Sock Put socks… Must be careful or these ones will be living on her feet too – heh!)
Saturday morning was a lazy day spent in the sun watching birds and knitting socks. No knitting for me on Saturday night because I was out. At the Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers concert. Considered bringing the socks along, but glad I didn’t because we were groovin’ hard with Mr. Petty and his freakin’ fantastic band all night long. Whatta great show. So awesome.
That brings us to today. I’ll do a quick round of household chores and then the sticks will be clickin’ for the rest of the day. With the games playing on the telly in the background, of course.
Before I run off though, I just want to apologize to my knitting friends. Sorry I missed knit night this week. Don’t think supper agreed with me that night, so I opted instead to knit on the balcony in my jammies instead.
on your mark… get set… go!
The 2008 Ravelympics has officially begun. Pick up your sticks and get knitting! This morning while getting ready for work I cast on for my Lace Ribbon Scarf (for the Scarf Stroke competition), using my new Knit Picks Harmony circs. Whee!
After work I’ll be casting on for my very own pair of knitted socks (SockPut). Mom, you’re not stealing these ones away from me, lol!
May we all be triumphant!
Oh, and GO TEAM CANADA!
Crazy Canucks…
o happy day.
Last night while spying on my Knit Picks order, I discovered that it was already in Winnipeg. Having only placed the order on July 28th I was quite happy about the super-dooper-speedy delivery this time ’round. Figured I’d get the delivery notice later this week. Yay!
And inside this box…
-a sweater’s worth of Wool of the Andes in Blackberry (hello Central Park Hoodie!)
-my very own copy of Favorite Socks (love this book!)
-3 sets of various Harmony Wood needles (2 circs, 1 dpn)
Hooray! I cannot wait to start on my very first sweater project.
However, must endure Ravelympics events first. Then cast on for the sweater. Ravelympics first. Sweater afterwards. Sweater first, ravelympics later? No! Baaaaad Knitting Daisy. Your Ravelympics projects are all going to be just as amazing as that dang sweater will be. You can wait dammit.
Okay I’ll stop arguing with myself now. Sorry about that…
Anyways…
Countdown to 2008 Ravelympics: TWO MORE SLEEPS!!!
hello August!
It is now safe to speak freely about the secret project. However if you’re one of the Wooly Bullies, then you probably already knew what this project was. I was knitting a Moderne Baby Blanket for my BFF, who was expecting bebe numero trois. When her first two monkeys were born, I had not yet been introduced to the art of knitting. So when number 3 came along, I simply had to handknit something. It took what felt like forever and a day, endless rows of garter stitch, and way too many picking up of stitches but it is now complete. And in all my glory, I forgot to snap a pic of the final product. Such is life. Here’s a pic of it at about 75% to completion:
I’m quite happy to say that she loved it. Yay!
And know I am free to knit whatever I want. Which brings me to my next topic – lace knitting. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a thread on the Ravelry ‘LOST Knitters’ group. They had set up a knit-a-long (KAL) of various ‘LOST’-themed projects in anticipation of the upcoming fifth season. One of the items was the Seascape shawl/stole from Summer ‘08 Knitty. And since it was already in my queue, I thought ‘why the heck not!’ and joined the KAL. Well my needle stash told me otherwise. I didn’t have any proper lace needles. Being stubborn I decided to just use regular needles, because what’s the difference right? Wrong. Apparently lace needles are manufactured for a reason. For lace knitting. For lace knitting projects like Seascape. Yah. The KAL got put on hold until proper needles could be acquired. Instead I cast on for the Totally Autumn blanket. Which is coming along nicely. Am using Dream in Color Classy yarn which is a ‘dream’ to work with (pardon the pun). And then I finally discovered Addi Turbo Lace needles. Blanket is shoved aside, Seascape is cast on and am now zoom-zooming through the pattern. Amazing what the right needles will do. I bow down to thee, knitting gods. Thank you.
Of course one can never walk into a yarn shop and not walk out with yarn…

Estelle Arequipa, and
Fleece Artist Somoko
Both sock yarns of course! The Fleece Artist will likely be turned into another pair of Froot Loops, and the Arequipa… Well that one was a total impulse buy, just because I loved the colour. It’s destiny will be revealed in time I’m sure.
Countdown to the 2008 Ravelympics: 6 more sleeps…
