more stories from my birthday weekend…
these clubs were an early birthday gift from my Mom and Dad. so amazing, they are! (my parents AND the clubs, lol.) i had been browsing around online for some used clubs and they go and blow my mind by getting me a brand new set of Top Flite’s. i love my putter and i love my big bertha driver. also getting better with my irons, and trying to get comfortable using the two hybrid clubs. Tigress Woods? hahaha!
so mister random and i took his Dad out golfing. it was hothothot and the bugs were loving us, but we had a good time whacking balls around on the course. highlight for me? didn’t lose a single ball AND made it over the water hazard!

it’s getting there. just need sleeves, hood, button bands, and copious amounts of seaming. my first full sweater; feels good.

somedays the past six months have seemed to fly by in a blur. other days it feels like they’ve dragged on forever. finding out that my Dad has cancer definitely threw me for a loop. what fragile lives we lead.
tomorrow is my Dad’s surgery, the start of a new chapter. i’d be lying if i told you i wasn’t scared. petrified is probably a better word for it.
but i smile on the outside.
try to occupy my mind with fun, carefree times with family, loved ones. tackle a new knitting project. escape reality for a while with a good book. watch episodes of Wipeout over and over again. discover a new favourite drink at Starbucks, new wines to enjoy, new ice cream flavours to indulge in. getting better at my golf game. watch even more golf on tv.

i have been using trusty hand-me-downs for almost 10 years. yesterday, this box arrived on my doorstep (thank you air miles). time to start anew…

it was my birthday this past weekend and i got some stuff:
cards, wine, movies, spa gift certificate, lots of bday treats
(mini cupcakes, tarts, Nibs – yum).
also took part in the Gemini Knitters’ 2009 Gemini Birthday Swap on Ravelry. my swap partner sent me a doozie:
i nearly fainted when my ever-so-excited hands pulled out not one, but TWO skeins of beloved Malabrigo (amongst all the other amazing goodies). a second near-fainting ocurred when mister random heard my squees of joy and asked if it was Malabrigo. he knows the name of my favourite yarn, so cute.
it was a good birthday weekend.
