lo and behold…
I finished a sock last night, woohoo. Took me long enough. But to be fair, it’s actual cast-on date was the day before I left for Nashville; and since I’ve been back I’ve been working on multiple projects – the only ones being finished in this time were those intended for the charity craft sale. Will cast on for it’s sock-mate this evening during tonight’s season premieres (Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives…).
- an iPod Nano Cozy
- a camera cozy
- a knitted coffee sleeve (‘java jacket’)
- the felted clutch / accessory holder
- a cowl / neckwarmer
- and a toque (Foliage)

Last month I had envisioned September as being a month of spinning. Since the knitting group’s field trip to a sheep farm in June I’ve acquired a new stash – roving. There is quite a bit of this beautifully coloured fibre to be spun, but apparently no time to get started! What I should do is post pics of the roving here on my blog, and hopefully this serves as a constant reminder that it has remained somewhat unloved since it’s purchase – lol. So here goes…

I think what I have to do is actually set aside one evening per week, and dedicate my efforts to getting some spin-action happening. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for the best! Perhaps a better goal would be to try and turn one of the above picutres into a skein of yarn before December 31st… That may be a little more achieveable. Me being a slow crafter and all
Yesterday was a much needed day of rest. Most of the day was spent on the couch, knitting. Went to the grocery store, stocked up on ‘real’ food, cooked me and my man a ‘real’ dinner, and then spent the rest of the evening knitting while I re-watched Heroes (for the 3rd AND 4th time – gotsa luv time shift TV, tee hee hee). Can’t get enough of that show. Love Sylar. And also very happy to see that the writers/producers gave Peter Petrelli some balls this season. He’s not such a pansy-a$$ anymore, hooray! But what did they do to Mohinder? *shudders* Ick!
Today I’m off to meet some girlfriends for lunch. As I was sipping my tea earlier I was thinking about how long us girls had been friends. Well we met in junior high, so that would make it…1989 (1989!!). Holy schnikes. That’s going on twenty years! Wow. I’m so lucky to still have these girls in my life. We may not see each other as much as we did in junior high & high school, and our lives may have gone in somewhat different directions (with families and all that) but when we do get together it’s as if not a day has passed. And that’s pretty damn awesome.
So as usual I’ve spent way too much time yakking on here again and must now hussle to get the weekly chores over with. Only have one hour left before I’ll need to start getting ready for my lunch date!
the usual sunday post.
Time is not my friend. I’m behind in my charity knitting by TWO projects. That darn Foliage toque gave me troubles last weekend; never did get around to starting the Fetchings. The only project I’ve made any real progress on this week was my Lace Ribbon Scarf – and even that wasn’t much!

The Foliage toque is about 90% to completion. Just need to do a few more rows of ribbing before I cast off. I really like the colour of this one. Jewel tones are great.
I’ve been lucky to see some great concerts recently — Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Oasis, Elton John. All great shows. Next month is Neil Young and Lenny Kravitz. The city seems to be drawing a lot more artists through since we got the new arena. My bank account can’t keep up with it all! Between buying concert tickets and yarn… Starbucks… I’m gonna need a second job to fund these addictions
As always, I procrastinate. I must now flee the keyboard and get those pesky sunday chores over and done with. As an added plus I can turn the music up loud while I clean today, because loverboy is out whacking balls on the golf course. Wheee!
weekends are for charity.
For the month of September I’ve decided to divvy up the knit week between two types of projects: personal & charity.
Monday to Friday are designated for any personal projects I’ve got on the go. Which as of now are:
- loverboy’s socks
- Seascape Stole (for the LOST kal)
- Lace Ribbon Scarf
(I’ve also been dying to cast on for TWO sweaters already…one for me and one for loverboy.)
Weekends are now dedicated for charity knitting. My goal is to finish two projects each weekend until the end of the month. That should give me enough time to complete 8 projects which will be donated to the Bake Bake & Blinkets craft sale in October.
Last weekend I made a felted clutch and a camera cozy.
This morning I cast on for another Foliage. The Foliage I made this past February took no time at all, so I’m hoping for another speedy knit with this pattern. Then if all goes according to plan, I should be casting on for a pair of Fetching tomorrow.
Now I’m off to enjoy a cup of English Breakfast tea (yum!) and continue workng on that hat.
stumped, agitated, and inspired.
No, it wasn’t me who became agitated. It was this:
A felted accessory bag – from the book 101 One-Skein Wonders. It is my very first felting project. And oooee what fun that was! Can’t wait to do it again. Now I must admit that it came out slightly longer than I had hoped, but I’m still happy with the results. Not so much an accessory bag as it is a mini clutch… Just needs a nice large funky wooden button and it’s done.
Oooh, btw that’s the Heroes Season 2 dvd in the background. LOVE Heroes! Cannot wait for 09.22.08.
Which were coming along just fine until the heel. Since the pattern was originally written for knitting with 2 circular needles and I’m using dpns, I’ve sort of hit a bit of a speed bump. I know I’m just overthinking this little hurdle, but alas it has stumped me nonetheless. So his lovely socks are taking a brief time out – which has given me ample opportunity to get going on this whole charity knitting business. Guess there’s a reason for everything
