25 Nov

it’s friday, and i’m feeling ultra-lazy so today’s contribution to the blog is copied straight out of a facebook note i published a week or so ago…

hey there, Avon shoppers!  thought i’d share the latest Avon brochures with you all, and point out a few of the products i’m currently diggin’ :)

pg 14-15 birthstone key chains - a giant gem that also doubles as a mini (coloured!) flashlight.  cool, right? i know!

pg 40-41 bubble bath - WAY too many yummy flavours! …i mean scents :) i love the sugar plum cream one – smells so good!

pg 63 white gold lipsticks - great colours with a hint of shimmery gold. and at only $3.99, these lipsticks are a great deal!

pg 80-81 glazewear lip glosses - love the glazewear glosses! gives you colour without staining your lips. and another steal of a deal, priced at $3.99 each. personally, i’m a “tickled pink” girl :)

pg 122 scentini ‘plum twist’ - totally reminds me of body shop’s old “dewberry” perfume!

pg 139-141 miscellaneous jewellry - so many pretty shiny things!!!

pg 256 astonishing mascara - i’m a big fan of avon mascaras. i always switch it up between this one and the supershock one. so i’ll be sure to stock up since the ‘astonishing’ wands are only $2.99 right now.  you should too!

pg 258 handcreams & lip balms - supercute holiday packaging! tasty flavours! really cheap!

campaign 25 orders are due in by sunday november 27th ~ if you would like to try any of my faves or anything else, just hollar at me! okay don’t hollar, just in case i don’t hear you. send me a private message, comment on this blog post, write on my facebook wall, tweet me, email me, call me…

wips week.

16 Oct

this was a good week for knits. i managed to cast off 3 of the 4 projects living on my needles. today, a little show and a bit of tell!

can you see the owls? this is my “seekrit” project, and i love the way it turned out!
20111016-100802.jpg
and here is my montego bay scarf, made with the ever-so-buttery malabrigo lace. my favourite brand of yarn! can’t believe i didn’t freak out tying on all that fringe, hah.

my feet are also super happy; not to mention super cozy, in these awesome socks. the colour is amazing, and i can see more socks knit with dream in colour “smooshy” in my future. my momma and mister are already owners of hand-knit smooshy socks – lucky ducks!

so only one more wip is left on my needles, but three more are waiting in the wings to be cast on. today i have to swatch for the selfish knitter’s knitalong; we’re knitting Aidez, and that starts on monday.

then i’ll need to get to work on some mittens… for myself and my mister. i was heartbroken to hear that he somehow lost one of his malabrigo chevalier mitts :( kind of makes me a bit sick to my stomach, but in the end it’s just a mitten right? yes it has sentimental value, but we still have a roof over our heads – lol.

have a great week, friends!!

game face.

9 Oct

it’s time to get my knitting game face on.

october is here, which means colder weather is on it’s way, and i really need to knit a new pair of mittens for myself.  the pattern is courtesy of knitty’s deep fall issue: ambroso – fell in love with the design as soon as the pattern page floated across my computer screen.

but before i start up another project, i’m challenging myself to finish the ones that have been on my needles for months now.  first up is a seekrit project, and it is juuuuuuuust about ready for cast off.  easy peasy lemon squeezy.

next project to tackle are my river blue socks. this is another one that is so close to being done, and i can’t wait to wear them. it’s a shame they’re not finished already, but the progress became sidetracked in our recent move.

then i really should finish that montego bay scarf i started in may…

after the scarf, i’d really like to knock off the blanket i’ve been working on since february.  you know, maybe finish it before another winter passes us by? yeah, would be nice.  can’t actually recall the last time i picked up that sucker. and i really hope i kept note of which row i left off on – heh heh.

and lastly, how about we throw in a little twist into the plans?  one of my favourite bloggers is hosting a fall knit-along, and it’s a big one… starts on october 17th.  have i bitten off more than i can chew? probably!

so after all these projects have been (mostly) ticked off the WIPs list, i will reward my hands with a lovely new pair of mittens.  my plans are to take the rest of october to tackle these projects, and cast on the mittens before the start of november.  wish me luck!

what are your fall/winter knitting plans?

wait.

the little things.

sometimes they mean a lot, other times they mean nothing at all.

life is all about the little things.

possession.

18 Sep

i no longer have to leave my apartment to do laundry.
i can adopt a kitty – or TWO KITTEHS!
my neighbours are geese, not a beer vendor.
sleep is more enjoyable due to less traffic outside my bedroom window.
am located in a more secluded, almost borderline rural area, so the chances of wanna-be gangsters walking by shouting out how tough they are has been virtually eliminated.
the people to whom i will now pay rent to are capable, they are professional, and i trust them.
the building’s elevator has a permit (imagine that!), and doesn’t look like the inside of a prison – oh and it actually works, so no one gets stuck inside it when it inevitably jams once every 2 weeks…
there are amazing paths winding all around our new neighbourhood – great for biking, jogging, and walking.

i love our new home.

i have to thank my mister for spearheading this move – he was the one who took charge and set-up the viewing appointment, arranged the physical move, DID  most of the moving. he is the reason we are here.

thanks babe.

resume.

11 Sep

so close to finishing this project; my river blue socks (pattern: Kalajoki). i could probably wrap it up today, but there’s this little task of putting-things-in-boxes that needs attention. we’re moving soon. like in ’4 more sleeps soon’. been hoarding empty boxes for weeks now. packing procrastination has been at an all time high. today i plan to git-r-done. throw on some tunes, and pickety-pack the day away. tonight i look forward to rewarding myself with knitting & the season finale of curb your enthusiasm. i hope leon’s in this episode, he’s my favourite.

been scheming and dreaming about a top secret knitting project and i’ve been waffling on the perfect pattern for it for weeks now.  this morning i somehow managed to narrow the field down to 8, and i think…i think i’ve got my top 4 selected.  just wish that i could solicit YOU, my lovely readers, to help pick THE ONE pattern.  but i simply can’t risk the recipient seeing this post and cluing in to my plans.

sounds like i’m going to have to let the yarn choose the final pattern.  a trip to my favourite LYS is definitely in order.  excited!
