puzzle pieces.

this is what happens when you finish knitting and seaming your first full sweater:
those 'summer sox' socksalso this:
soft 'n bright!and a new hat was cast on too.  crazy!

all because of a sweater…

ta-da!

who knew?

not the world’s greatest photo, but hey i made that blackberry-licious hoodie.  and i loves it.  it’s far from perfect and that’s okay with me.

welcome back knitting mojo!

so close i can taste it!

knitting update:

all that remains to be done on my central park hoodie is the ribbed edging on the hood & front left/right panels – and then seam it all together.  i’m so excited i’m about ready to burst!  this hoodie is my first ever adult-sized sweater and i think i may just be addicted.  already thinking ahead to sweater number two (and three!!!).  it’s going to feel so good to finally finish this project – which started out at lightening speed in june/july, took a hiatus over august/september, and now approaching the finish line in october.  so excited!

i’ve gotta go back to knitting now :)

happy canadian thanksgiving day, all.  bring on the turkey pants!

karma beotch?

figures: the one night i actually feel motivated to start the final workings on my central park hoodie, is the one night i cannot find the pattern for it — anywhere. it’s vanished! FML, ugh.

no pretty pictures.

just needing to point out a few faves that have been sitting around in my Ravelry queue – some new additions & some that are much older… with over 12 pages of patterns saved (not to mention 396 patterns faved!), i kinda wanted to make note of ones that should be kept at the forefront of my knitting radar.

okay so this was definitely more than ‘a few faves’.  now that i’ve got them in front of me, it’s going to be tough to decide what to knit next.  and the even tougher part will be trying to knit from my stash (Ravelry link), while abstaining from further s.e.x.  there are also waaaaaaaaay too many sock patterns in my queue – so many in fact that i could not bear to pick even one that stood out for me, hah.  and sweaters, sweaters galore.  (note to self: must finish CPH ASAP so knitted-sweater confidence is boosted).

which future project(s) are you excited about casting on for?

one month later.

we’re all moved into the new pad.  moving sucks regardless, doesn’t matter if your new address is 2 provinces away, 2 miles away, 2 streets away or in our case 2 floors away from your old place.  there are still boxes scattered throughout the suite, the contents just waiting for their turn at being introduced to our new home.  in due time…

needless to say knitting has sort of taken a backseat to all the cleaning/packing/cleaning/moving/cleaning/unpacking of late.  however i do have some updates for show and tell.

first up, and the oldest of my current wips, we have the central park hoodie.  nothing to show or tell here.  it’s been stagnant at 80% complete for weeks.  now that it’s almost fall i plan to haul it out of temporary hibernation, finish up the hood, and sew it all together (ugh!).
*********************************************************************
the next item in my wips basket are my cookie a’s summer sox, knit with mmmalabrigo sock – so yum!  these little babies are sitting at about 70% done.

(it sure doesn't feel like) summer soxmal sock is an absolute dream to work with – well worth the hard earned bucks i shelled out for it.  hope to stash more of this stuff in the near future (merry christmas, anyone? anyone? -> HINT HINT).  sock numero deux should be finished by the time autumn actually rolls around.  just in time to keep my tootsies toasty!
*********************************************************************

moving on, we have two igk installments (‘igk’ meaning ‘i’nstant ‘g’ratification ‘k’nits), a dishcloth and a headband.  the dishcloth was a cute little pattern i found on the ‘newly added patterns’ on ravelry – a triangles dishcloth by tera johnson.  as it happens this cloth is currently mia; i was looking for it tonight as i gathered what little knitterly evidence i had accumulated over the last month.  guess i’ll stumble upon it amongst all the unpacked boxes when i get to those, haha!
*********************************************************************

the second IGK work was a cute headband, the pattern of which (again) i stumbled upon whilst browsing ravelry one night.  i used some leftover sock yarn to knit up this little gem.
headbanger*********************************************************************

last but not least i needed to fulfill a neckscarf/kerchief/thingamabobber craving.  ever since knitting springtime bandit and the ever-so-popular ishbel, i’ve just wanted more and more of these types of scarves.  so the noro kureyon sock that at one time was being knit into a lace ribbon scarf, is now in the works to becoming a waves of leaves shawl by ijeomo olou.
waves of noroseems like forever ago that i cast this one on, but it’s only been since august 20th.  although i suppose that is almost one month… i did however have to frog & restart this pattern as i had neglected to mark down where i’d last left off – whoops! – so then i picked up where i thought i had last knit, which amazingly was right, and proceeded to majorly eff up that row.  at that point i decided it’d be easier just to rip it back and start over.
*********************************************************************

and that concludes tonight’s blogging!  now i’m off to finish up some laundry and then off to eat some popcorn.  i mean see a movie :)

boxing.

holy crap we’re moving in less than three weeks.

instead of packing, can’t i just click my heels together three times saying “there’s no place like home…there’s no place like home…there’s no place like home” – and VOILA! – everything’s all settled in at the new pad?  are the sparkly red shoes a prerequisite?  cuz i’m pretty sure i can get my hands on a bedazzler…

late night knits.

saturday night.hi there, it’s been awhile (yet again).  don’t have much to say except it’s saturday night, mister random is out with the boys, and i’m home alone.  i enjoy alone time, but lately not as much as i used to.  i’m lonely; so mister random?  please come home soon.  i need to be tucked in…

one hundred and sixty four.

yes indeedy it’s time to start planning for your 2009 holiday knit list!  i dunno about you but for the past couple of weeks while cruising ravelry’s newly added patterns i’ve been eyeing the potential projects not only for me, but for what i might want to knit as christmas gifts this year.  one thing i definitely want to do this year is knit each of my nieces and nephews a stocking (so technically that’s five things, hah!).

ideally i’d love it if people came right out and requested hand-knit items.  but that’s not usually how it goes, so us knitters are left with the task of choosing the pattern, choosing the yarn, choosing the colour(s), guessing the size, casting on, frogging back, casting on again, scrapping one project for another, and so on and so on and so on.  so hey i’m gonna go ahead put it out there:  if you’re reading this and you usually get a gift from me, why not drop me a line and help a sister out?  just sayin’…

there’s tons of options to choose from!  socks, scarves, wraps, shawls, mitts, toques, dishclothes, pillowcases, toys, baby/toddler knits, berets, market bags, shrugs, cowls, legwarmers, slippers – is that enough for you? cause there’s probably way more that i’m forgetting to mention!!

i think my plan for this year will be to just knit away at patterns that i really want to try, use up all kinds of different yarns from my stash and hope that the resulting finished objects are suitable for everyone on my list.  that way i’m not pressuring myself to ‘knit such-and-such for so-and-so by xx-date’.  makes for more enjoyable knitting, doesn’t it?  and if it doesn’t work out that everyone gets something, then i still had fun creating the item and chances are someone will claim it/them.

in the meantime, i really need to finish up my sweater. not that i’ll be wearing it anytime soon, but you know.  and tonight?  there’s just enough hours left in the day to complete my pair of ‘hospital socks’ (the waving lace pattern from favorite socks).

happy knitting!
